Many years ago, I tried, unsuccessfully, to take the well-beaten path of 9 to 5, mortgage, stockpiling possessions, and keeping up with the Joneses. I write about that other, unmarked path – the one filled with detours, dead ends, hitchhikers, kitschy roadside attractions, and unexpected destinations.

For most of my adult life, I wandered the planet. In 2018, the path led me home, to the northern Michigan wilderness. My writing has since begun to shift from travel memoir to my deepening communion with nature. The exploration continues and it is no less breathtaking.
